The SOCRadar Journey: Built from a Real Problem with Huzeyfe Önal's Vision

"I didn’t plan to build another cybersecurity company. I was running an MSSP, working with over 600 clients. Business was good — but there was one persistent headache. We couldn’t find a threat intelligence or attack surface management platform that was both powerful and affordable.

The enterprise tools were built for Fortune 100s with armies of analysts. We needed something that made sense for MSSPs and mid-sized organizations — simple, scalable, and actually useful.

So I called Ahmet and Sami — two of the smartest people I knew. Ahmet had a deep background in big data, and Sami could architect anything at scale with clean, efficient code.

“Let’s build something ourselves,” I said. It started as a small experiment — a side project to fill a painful gap.

Then COVID hit. Everything changed. While the world was slowing down, we were speeding up. We started getting messages from Singapore, Brazil, Romania, South Africa — places we never expected. In just 12 months, we had paying customers in more than 10 countries. It felt surreal.

We knew we had struck a nerve. So we made the call — shut down our other businesses, go full-time, and build SOCRadar into what it had the potential to be.

Today, that little side project is helping organizations around the world gain clarity, speed, and visibility in the face of growing cyber threats. But the mission hasn’t changed since day one: fix what’s broken, make it usable, and never overcharge for security."
